East Kent Housing selects NPS to deliver IT system

A new single IT solution which will provide a faster, cost effective and more streamlined housing service to over 17,000 council housing residents has been chosen by East Kent Housing (EKH).
Provided by Northgate Public Services’ (NPS), the new software will enable the organisation to deliver better access to council housing services on behalf of Canterbury, Dover, Shepway and Thanet councils.
NPS’ new software will enable the councils’ tenants to access a number of services via the internet- which was a key priority for EKH and their tenants. It means tenants will be offered a comprehensive set of web portal applications across a range of services, including viewing their rent accounts , making payments, reporting and querying repairs (including via a graphical interface), requesting information or advice, completing online surveys and notifying the council of changes of circumstances or details.
At the moment, tenants can only access a limited amount of housing or repair services on-line and staff can only access the current IT systems from their offices. As the new single IT system replaces four different housing solutions, this will create a range of opportunities to improve customer interaction and the way EKH’s staff can work more effectively, for example through mobile working. The single IT system will also enable EKH to consolidate four different ways of working into one streamlined way and eliminate duplication of effort, with staff currently having to work with four different IT systems.
