  • NPS to help reduce IT spend, increase efficiency
  • NPS will establish a modern apprenticeship scheme

Following a detailed procurement process the London Borough of Bexley has signed a contract with IT services and software provider Northgate Public Services to deliver £11 million in savings over the next five years.

The partnership will focus on reducing IT spend, increasing efficiency, enhancing current services and ensuring the council’s IT is fully equipped to deliver future services. This includes managing the migration of data centre services, providing the council with network and infrastructure services, service desk management, and business applications.

The contract starts on April 1st, 2016.

Anthony Singleton, Executive Director for Services, Northgate Public Services said:

“We believe there are excellent opportunities to enhance London Borough of Bexley’s IT service delivery. Our goal is not just to save the council money, but to create exceptional IT services that serve the current and future needs of the borough and its community. We will be helping Bexley deliver more for less money, improve existing services, and create new IT apprenticeships in the local area that put young people on a path to skilled, lifelong employment.

“Ultimately, we’re focussed on delivering £11 million in savings over the next five years to Bexley. These are credible goals, similar to what we’ve achieve with other councils. To date we have delivered £220 million in savings to over 100 public sector clients around the UK.”

As part of the agreement, Northgate Public Services will work in a number of areas that will create jobs and improve IT services for the council.

Modern apprentices will be recruited from within the local community. The apprentices will be taught IT skills that will directly support efforts to improve the council’s service delivery.

A unique ICT Enabler Fund will also be created that utilises NPS’ expertise to target and transform IT delivery in ways that suit London Borough of Bexley’s communities.

Northgate Public Services has been supporting public services for 40 years, and has similar partnerships with public sector organisations such as Reading Borough Council, North Lanarkshire Council, Hartlepool Borough Council and Nottingham City Council.
