Province of New Brunswick appoints Northgate Public Services to provide a new social housing management platform

14 August 2013

Northgate Public Services, a global leader in technology solutions for the public sector, today announced it has been selected by the Province of New Brunswick to provide a new Integrated Housing Solution (IHS) System for managing its social housing portfolio of approximately 23,000 properties and subsidized units. The 3 year project will go live in 2016, and will include the provision of bilingual services in-line with the Province’s mandate.

The New Brunswick Department of Social Development through its Housing Programs provides and manages quality and affordable housing for low and moderate income households. The Province determined Northgate provided a proven off-the-shelf solution that met their business needs.

Northgate’s Housing solution was specifically designed for use in social housing and has been developed using the lessons learnt on hundreds of similar projects implemented globally. The system will provide complete flexibility and easy configuration allowing the Department to roll it out in 2016.

For citizens, benefits will be brought about through the amalgamation of data into a single unified database enabling the Department to extend and personalise customer service whilst generating efficiency improvements and providing up to date records of service status requests.  Northgate will help transform the working practices by introducing Intelligent Mobile solutions and automated workflow processes across all operational areas, negating the need for manual workarounds, paper-based processes and data re-entry. The fully integrated housing stock management application will incorporate rents, arrears, allocations and lettings, housing client registry, customer services, repairs, planned maintenance and contractors.

Northgate have been serving the Canadian social housing market for more than 14 years working for organisations such as the Canadian Forces Housing Agency, Newfoundland & Labrador Housing Corporation, City Housing Hamilton, Good Shepherd Not for Profit and Ottawa Community Housing.

Ian Blackhurst, Executive Director for Solutions, Northgate Public Services, said, “We’re looking forward to rolling out our proven suite of housing management technologies to provide benefits to the citizens of New Brunswick. We have already delivered a number of successful projects in Canada and look forward to doing the same again here. The addition of bilingual services is a new requirement for us, but one we are very capable of delivering on.”
